January 2016 – Album Reviews

As I have been inactive for a while I’ve written a brief summary of everything I’ve listened to in the first two months of the year. In other slow months I will also write similar articles.

First up…

David Bowie – Black Star

Fantastic. Captivating, enticing, and a Bowie classic. A great song off for one of the greatest people the world has seen – 8/10

Megadeth – Dystopia

+ points just for not being “Super Collider”. 6/10

Steven Wilson – 4 1/2

Arguably his worst body of work, but it is just a few tracks thrown together. Says a lot about the strength of his writing. 7/10

Dream Theater – The Astonishing

Some people love it, some people hate it. You should hate it too. 3/10

Black Tusk – Pillars of Ash

Such riffs. Aggressive and heavy hitting. Again … riffs. 6/10

The Black Queen – Fever Daydream

Greg Puciato doing some electronica. Pop, but dark. Vibes. 8/10

Pil and Bue – Forget about the Past Let’s Worry about the Future

Milk Teeth – Vile Child

The post-grunge mixed with a post-punk vibe is cool. Surfer-y, but hard, 7/10

Bury Tomorrow – Earthbound

Metalcore has been stale for a few years. These lads knock it out the park however. 7/10

Abbath – Abbath

Very very nasty metal. Could do with better vocals. Guitars though like. 5/10
