4. Baroness – Purple
I knew this one would skew my list, just knew it. What an album. We had to wait the whole length of the year buy man was it good. This one had the potential to climb even higher on the list, only because it was released so late in the year is it only fourth.
There’s a great balance between sludge and melody, the vocals lines especially are notable for their often brightness despite the heavy nature of the music. Every inch of this album offers something relevant to the release as a whole and it’s full credit to the musicians on this one here.
Thumping riffs, heavy vocals, and melody. What more can you ask for really?
