Sylosis – Dormant Heart (2015) – Album Review

“Dormant Heart” doesn’t doesn’t initially astound but that is thanks to Sylosis‘ growing strength. They certainly meet expectations and often just about edge them. Their evolution is quaint but subtle tones can be heard that show “Dormant Heart” is an evolution from previous accomplishments. The strive towards heavy, brutal, fast metal infusing with the “prog rock, soundscapey music”, as guitarist and vocalist Josh Middleton so often refers to, is at full display in the standard releases’ closer, ‘Quiescent’. A brooding symphonic song that highlight Sylosis‘ key attributes and affirms their status as one of the best metal bands around, and definitely one of the best young ones.

Verdict – 9/10 – Dynamically superb and the perfect evolution, Sylosis are nothing short off of impressive
