4. Devin Townsend – Z2
Definitely one of the most ambitious albums I’ve heard in a while. He seems to be able to pull everything off. This is a double album; a Devin Townsend Project making up the first half, and the hilarious follow up to Ziltoid, Z2, on the second half. I’d recommend reading my review of Z2 for a more in depth look, but to summarise; it’s brilliant. Just… incredible how he, or the band, can craft two hours of music that is this astounding. Imagine Pink Floyd but metal. Something brilliantly divine is going on in Devin Townsend‘s head and even if you don’t like him you have to appreciate his wondrous talent. Absolute genius; few artists can be as serious as they are funny either, especially in the same album.
