6. Crobot – Something Supernatural
Crobot are another new discovery this year. Hearing ‘La Mano de Lucifer’ instantly attracted my attention. This was an album I had waited for and it duly delivered. It may sound like it’s repeating itself after a while but there’s enough hits on here that the filler is merely concrete among solid, heavy ass bricks. Not only does it have some great heavy blues instrumentals, notably the guitar riffs of course; the vocalist is absolutely extraordinary. Think Myles Kennedy without the subtlety. It’s one of those voices that you’ll be replaying the belts. Hopefully he can keep it up forever. Next album there should be a greater focus on dynamics but it’s a great release and the good tracks are great, whilst the bad tracks are merely “could be a smidgen better”.
