Edge of Tomorrow (2014) – Short & Late Film Review

The slump may have finally ended for Tom Cruise and it’s turn around is with thanks to a well done plot against an already famous film idea. Groundhog Day with guns… maybe not but the basic principle of resetting the day remains. Instead of ripping off the idea however Edge of Tomorrow doesn’t push it’s boundaries any further than is needed and presents an enjoyable story filled with 12A Saving Private Ryan action and comic book humour. Tom Cruise is great of course but it’s the film he’s needed for a long time, with this lift he’ll soon have re-earned his seat in the Pantheon of Actings Greats.

It’s not a mind-blowing film, it’s easy to watch and easy to understand. At just under two hours that’s perfect .

Verdict – 8/10
