5. Korn – The Paradigm Shift
I first tried to get into Korn at a terrible time, just after ‘The Path of Totality’ was released. Prior to that there had been Kerrang!TV constantly barraging people with repeats of ‘Freak on a Leash’ and the like but never anything else asides from the money making singles. Thankfully I saw Korn at Download Festival 2013, after thinking “… nothing else on I’ll watch” I came away thinking they were one of the best bands of the festivals. The reunion with Head I could see touched the band as well as the fans and eagerly awaited the album. And what a great album it is, jam packed full of riffs and classic Korn grooves. The electronics haven’t disappeared but they manage to remain low enough in the mix that they actually add to the song instead of making it a pile of sick. Seriously great stuff.
